Sale of Horizon Casino And Hotel in Mississippi Signals Change
There is a change taking place in the state of Mississippi regarding their casino gambling, and Nevada Gold and Casino Inc. could be leading the way into change as they agreed to buy the Horizon Casino and Hotel.
The next step for the group is to submit their application for approval and licensing from the Mississippi Gaming Commission.
The price of the sale was about $35 million, and it is part of a nationwide movement by the Nevada group as they already have money invested in Colorado casinos, and is looking to expand into California.
The sale of Horizon is not the only casino news to come out of Vicksburg as their largest casino, Ameristar, is also in negotiations to be sold.
The Nevada group is looking at the potential to Vicksburg's only downtown casino, as Robert Sturges, a chief Executive Officer of Nevada Gold had this to say, " We have been very impressed with the city officials and their willingness to work together with local businesses....to give people more reason to come to downtown Vicksburg."
It is not known yet if the Nevada group plans to change the name of the casino, but one thing is for sure, they will be heavily involved in the operation of the casino. The group currently only operates one other casino in the U.S., and the Horizon is set to be number two.
