Planet Hollywood Eyes Atlantic City Casino Project

Planet Hollywood is holding the grand opening in Las Vegas this weekend for its Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, but as that event takes place, their owner is eyeing a casino project in Atlantic City.

Planet Hollywood has only begun its journey into the casino market with their grand opening this weekend for their Las Vegas casino-resort, but the owner of the company is already eyeing his next potential project, Atlantic City.

The co-founder of  Planet Hollywood, Robert Earl, raised eyebrows when he said he would be interested in bringing his second casino to Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Plans are in the process for the New Jersey project, but officials would not reveal any of the details of those plans.

This will not be the first time that Earl has attempted to get involved in Atlantic City, as back in 1996 he tried to negotiate a deal with Caesars for a Planet Hollywood on the boardwalk, but that deal never got out of the infant stages, and he ended up just putting a restaurant in the Caesars, but that failed.

The problem could turn out to be the lack of land available in Atlantic City to develop, and what land is available could come at a steep price for a limited area.

An option that Earl does have, however, would be to buy one of the existing casinos like he did in Vegas with Aladdin, then renovate it into a Planet Hollywood Casino and Resort. Donald Trump has several casinos in AC that would be available at the right price.
