Transformation Could Be Hurting Atlantic City Casino Revenues
Atlantic City just released their revenue numbers from November. The city saw a 7.7 percent decrease from the same time a year ago. Gambling losses were down almost across the board.
$374.7 million was lost at the cities eleven casinos. Slot machines were the big draw. They collected $260.8 million. $113.9 was collected from table games in the city.
Many of the casinos in the area are undergoing major renovations. Improvements are being made at nearly every casino. The hope is that the city can once again gain the popularity that it once enjoyed.
Neighboring states have recently legalized casino gambling. It has caused a drop in attendance, with many people from Pennsylvania and New York staying in their own states to gamble.
The city's casinos are doing their best to create an atmosphere similar to that of Las Vegas. The hope is that by offering more amenities and options, people will once again be drawn to the area.
Slot revenue dropped 12.2 percent from last year's figures. Table games actually saw an increase in revenue from last year, up 4.4 percent.
