Casino Jackpot Goes to Banned Gambler
At the Montreal Casino, management has been filling in for security personnel ever since the regular staff was locked out in a labor dispute August 27th. This week, that situation allowed one individual to win over a million dollars.
The gambler in question was barred from the casino last year for fighting with another patron. He was well-known to the security staff, and they had blocked his entrance to the casino on at least six different occasions in the two-week period before the lockout began.
But, with management largely unfamiliar with casino visitors, the man took advantage of the circumstances and slipped inside unnoticed and unidentified. Once inside, he gambled for at least an hour before hitting a progressive jackpot good for over a million dollars.
The casino is now stuck for the jackpot; by allowing the man to play, they implicitly gave him permission to return to the establishment.
One thing's for sure: the big winner owes a nice tip to security officers for striking. Maybe a little cash to sustain the troops while waiting for a settlement in their quest to increase the work week from three days to four?
