Bedbugs Another Problem Not Found at Online Casinos
A woman visiting Atlantic City over the holidays says her stay at Bally's Casino and Resort was ruined by an attack of bedbugs. Gail Edmond of Germantown, Pennsylvania says her vacation was disrupted when she awoke after a night at Bally's to find her body covered with insect bites.
The woman's fiance also reported bites. The couple went to a health clinic upon returning home and were told by a doctor that bedbugs were the source of the insect bites. The doctor wrote them a prescription to relieve the irritation and itching. Edmond insists she is not after a financial settlement, but simply wants the casino to properly sanitize their rooms.
The incident seems more ominous when recalling the conditions at the Tropicana Casino and Hotel that led to that establishment's losing its gambling license. Among customer complaints at the time were reports of unsanitary conditions and dirty rooms.
With declining revenues hitting double digits for Atlantic City casinos, most casino operators are laying off hotel workers and cutting back costs. These same moves led to the deterioration at the Tropicana. With a new situation arising at Bally's, it may be hard for Jersey casinos to shake the reputation of operating low-class, poorly maintained hotel rooms.
.Online casinos grow more attractive by comparison. If gambling is a preferred form of entertainment, one would still choose to enjoy it in the comforts of home rather than wonder what cleaning, if any, had been done to the hotel beds in rented rooms. Convenience, costs, and now cleanliness might all make a consumer choose Internet casinos over Atlantic City gambling venues.
