New Show For Casino da Madeira
Showbizworks.com, one of the world’s leading online entertainment agencies, has been awarded the contract to provide brand new production shows for Casino da Madeira in Funchal, owned by the prestigious Pestana Group. The first show, Viva Paradis, has just opened to rave reviews and runs for six months until the end of March then Showbizworks.com will introduce a brand new show for the summer.
Francisco Gomes, editor of The Brit In Madeira newspaper said in his review of the new show: "Most dance shows stand out for one particular reason or another. Sometimes, it is the beauty of the dancers….sometimes it is the melodiousness of the songs. Other times it is the costumes with their sparkle and design that enchant your spirit. Seldom, very seldom indeed, does one get amazed because every single thing that is in one way or another related to the show is absolutely impeccable. That ‘one in a million chance’ is here."
The new show includes six female dancers, two males and a male and female singer. It delivers a blend of classic, Vegas style production numbers where the stage is literally filled with spectacular feathered headdresses and breath-taking costumes, combined with current and commercial dance hits that appeal to a wide audience. It is one of the most glamorous productions ever staged at the Casino.
Martin Blore, director of Showbizworks.com said: "We are honoured to have been chosen from a large selection process to provide spectacular new shows for the resort casino. Pestana Group is a forward thinking company that fully appreciates the contribution that live entertainment can make to footfall, the drop and the overall leisure experience for the customer."
He added: “We spent a considerable amount of time studying the customer profile taking into consideration the average age, nationality, demographic and the length of stay in the casino in order to create a show that would appeal to Casino da Madeira’s target market. So often, casino shows are more about what the producer wants to create rather than what is right for the audience. We ensure that shows don’t become self-indulgent but are spectacular productions with music and choreography to which each different casino audience can relate.”
Three choreographers have been responsible for creating different parts of the show, therefore playing to their creative strengths in jazz and commercial dancing, traditional showgirl routines and urban dance.
For the first time in ten years there has been a return to the inclusion of topless dancers in the show, positioning the production to a more adult, yet still sophisticated audience. However, the topless sections are limited to the opening of the show and the finale only.
Structural and creative changes have also been made to the current stage and an entirely new sound and lighting plot has been implemented. The costumes and head-dresses have been designed and created in the UK and flown out especially for the new show. In the opening there are 1,800 coque and ostrich feathers on display and 1,180 Lady Amhurst pheasant feathers on stage for the finale. Swarovski has provided 4000 crystal rhinestones for this lavish production.
The directors of Showbizworks.com have considerable experience in the leisure and gaming industries and also understand the business needs of the client as well as the production values of the show. Between them they have managed and marketed major leisure venues in the UK and introduced award winning shows, choreographed and directed theatre shows and one directors’ father owned one of the UK’s first casino and floorshow venues back in the ‘60’s. Their understanding of both the gaming culture and live entertainment in casinos is second to none.
The company provides resident shows for international tourist attractions such as the beautiful Warwick Castle in the UK, where they currently stage a resident jousting show for Merlin Entertainment Group. Showbizworks.com also provides live entertainment for high end corporate events providing famous pop stars, bands and speciality acts to venues all over the world. Their represented artistes have performed in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City in the USA, in Tuscany, Italy, in Paris, France and in Dublin, Ireland to name but a few. Showbizworks.com provided the entertainment for the opening and closing ceremonies of this year’s European Golf Championships in Korea, and their managed artistes have entertained the world’s top 100 real estate investors in St Moritz and appeared at various Formula 1 Grand Prix Balls for celebrity audiences.
The new dinner show is staged four nights a week every Wednesday until Saturday inclusive until the end of April 2009 at Casino da Madeira.
