Christchurch Casino Finds Breasts Offensive

Simpson's E-cup breasts threatened to burst free of their restraint, the complaining customers felt.

Helen Simpson, dressed to gamble. Helen Simpson thought she'd take in a relaxing night of casino gambling while on vacation in New Zealand in September. Little did she know she'd make international news by doing so.

The tourist from England was asked to either cover her cleavage or leave the Christchurch Casino.

Simpson was wearing a low-cut black evening dress, and patrons at a nearby table had complained to management about the amount of skin she was displaying. Simpson's E-cup breasts threatened to burst free of their restraint, the complaining customers felt.

The treatment of the 33-year-old Simpson quickly became national and then international news. She spent the remaining two days of her vacation doing print, radio, and television interviews.

Upon returning to her home in Nottingham, England, Simpson received a letter from the casino, apologizing for the way the situation had been handled and promising a review of the business's dress code.

Despite her statement that the incident made her feel humiliated, Simpson did admit to somewhat enjoying her brush with fame. She plans to move to Christchurch next year, and expects to visit the casino again. Meantime, Simpson hasn't worn the offending dress since the incident; the weather in England has been far too cold, she said.

Perhaps New Zealand should take a page from Las Vegas, where employees and customers routinely wear revealing outfits, and are encouraged to do so by the casinos. After all, every distraction can only benefit the house.
