Caesars Casino Windsor Waitress Outfits Raise Stir
Casino Windsor's transition to the Caesars' brand name has ruffled the feathers of some of the company's cocktail waitresses. Female employees currently wearing uniforms that include a jacket, blouse, and choice of skirt or slacks will be asked to switch to a more revealing ensemble.
The new uniform, in keeping with both Caesars and Vegas traditions, will be a short dress with matching panties and a bolero jacket. Some of the women working for Casino Windsor feel the new outfit is too revealing.
Although they kept their names confidential for fear of reprisal, several workers called the new outfits "inappropriate", and one said,"I just feel showing half of my body is inappropriate."
The casino is scheduled to undergo a grand reopening in June, after a $400 million remodeling is completed. At that time, the name will be switched to Caesars.
An official from the Canadian Auto Workers Local 444, which represents employees at the casino, expressed concern and said the issue would be addressed in future talks with management.
Still, it seems obvious that part of the job description for cocktail servers is to be visually pleasing, and skimpy outfits and casinos have long gone hand in hand. The uniforms suggested are not unusual by Las Vegas standards, and not nearly the level of go-go dancers (pictured) and other regular casino employees.
Further, some workers relished the opportunity to raise their tip income by displaying a touch more flesh. Considering the recent scientific findings that men are more likely to spend freely and gamble larger amounts when sexual images are introduced, both the casino and tipped employees might find sexy uniforms to be a boon.

| I personally know a waitress that has been working at Casino Windsor for almost 14 years, she's an older woman who enjoyed serving in the uniform she had until the new uniforms came out. I agree with her. We find them demeaning to woman and very disrespectful. It opens doors for sexual harassment, in which the waitresses cannon retaliate. The government is sexually exploiting the female servers that work for Caesers. All she wants are some pants to wear along with the top half of the uniform. And they refuse that. Even though the male servers are allowed to wear a decent looking uniform with slacks. This shows discrimination towards women from the Caesers management and I refuse to sit back and watch it happen. I hope that Caesars Windsor staff re-evalute the new uniform and start listening and respecting the voices or their employees. | |
