Colorado Casino Laws Opposed by Zealot Chad Hills
Colorado is considering loosening its gambling laws, and, as usual, Focus on the Family has come out against freedom. Chad Hills, the so-called "gambling analyst" of the religious fringe group, stated that, regarding Amendment 50, "We have some pretty big concerns."
The initiative, if passed, would allow Colorado's three casino towns to raise the bet limit from $5 to $100, add craps and roulette, and expand hours of operation to as much as twenty-four hours a day.
The measure earmarks three-quarters of the increased tax revenue that would be generated to provide for community colleges, allowing the schools to receive necessary funding without raising taxes on the general population.
The changes in the law would seem relatively minor, but Hills is against them. He said, "Seven million dollars has bought them some really good ads, but we don't think they are being completely honest with the public."
This is an audacious statement coming from Hills, considering his record for deceiving statements, misinformation, and poor reasoning. Hills has consistently issued statements which were unverified or just plain wrong.
One thing is for sure: a zealot will never give up his argument, despite facts or logic. Philosophical matters of freedom and liberty are ignored by Hills, and societal benefits shrugged off, if they counter the path he is determined to promote.
