AC Casino Dice Record Set as Gambling Streak Lasts Four Hours
A player Saturday night at an Atlantic City casino set a new record for continuous play at craps, holding the dice for over four hours. Patricia Demauro went on a serious roll, taking the dice and casting them without losing for four hours and eighteen minutes.
Demauro began play shortly after eight at night at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa. She didn't stop until half past midnight, at which point the house saluted her with a champagne toast.
A dealer from a neighboring casino said he had wandered through on his way home, when he saw a sizable crowd at the craps tables.
"I joined them, and found she had been going already for more than three hours. The pit bosses were saying it might be a record, and she played for an hour after that," he remarked.
Demauro says she is new to playing craps, having only tried the game once before, and she had beginner's luck. The previous record, set in Las Vegas, is twenty years old and was over an hour shorter. That had been set by a Honolulu player in Las Vegas.
The total number of rolls by Demauro without relinquishing the dice was 154.
The casino would not say how much she won.
