Land Acquisition Hopefully Leads To Casino For Dragone
Massachusetts does not even have legalized casino gambling yet, but developers are snatching up land in preparation of the proposed casinos in the state. The latest acquisition comes from Leon Dragone.
Governor Deval Patrick is in favor of casino gambling. He has made his thoughts clear on the subject when he announced that he feels there should be three resort casinos in the state.
He is doing what any other politician would do. He is chasing the revenue that comes along with the proposed casinos and hoping the money can help balance the budget in the state.
Dragone is the head of Northeast Realty, a company that keeps buying up land in hopes of land one of the three proposed casino resorts. The latest acquisition was an eighty acre purchase in the town of Palmer. The land is directly across from other land that Dragone already owns.
Northeast Realty has an agreement in place with the Mohegan Indian Tribe, to build a casino in Palmer. The casino would come at a cost of $1 billion. Dragone now holds options on 230 acres of land.
