Elvis Presley Casino Planned For Las Vegas Strip
Elvis still rules, and he is coming to the Las Vegas Strip with his own hotel and casino. FX Real Estate and Entertainment, a New York company which has the rights to the Elvis Presley name, filed plans with the Securities and Exchange Commission detailing the vision of an Elvis Presley casino complex.
The new casino would be across the Strip from the new CityCenter complex, on 18 acres of land currently occupied by the Harley Davidson shop, among others. The project would include a hotel with more than 2250 rooms, and a casino almost 100,000 square feet in size.
There would also be a separate hotel-condo building, with an additional 778 rooms and 147 condominiums. The cost of the venture is estimated at $3.1 billion, before financing and land costs.
Elvis decor would be on view throughout the complex, and there would be Elvis memorabilia shops, an Elvis wedding chapel, and an interactive Elvis experience.
FX retained the rights to the Presley name through a licensing agreement with Elvis Presley Enterprises.
The project aims to target the more luxurious level of the Vegas market. FX officials hope to finance the plan through debt and equity financing. Once the funds are secured, construction is expected to begin in early 2009, and reach completion in 2012.
