Fair Grounds Race Course is set to begin its Winter racing season on Thursday, and officials are hoping that the addition of 245 slot machines will increase revenue at the track.
In the Winter months, there are three major racing venues, Oaklawn Park, in Arkansas, Gulfstream Park, in Hallandale, Florida, and Fair Grounds. The latter is hoping that the inclusion of the slot machine room will help the track compete with the other two venues.
