Foxwoods Casino Will Have To Move Toward Change With New Leader
Foxwoods resort Casino is planning to make every effort possible to become the premier vacation destination in the United States. The casino, which is run by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is undergoing major expansion construction.
On Friday, the casino learned that they will have to move forward with their expansion efforts without their leader. John O'Brien, the President of Foxwoods, is resigning his post, according to what the Tribe announced on Friday.
O'Brien has only been the president since 2006, but has decided to move forward and bring his life in a different direction. "It's the right move for me to move on to pursue other interests, including spending more time with my family," said O'Brien.
The move comes while Foxwoods is completing some major renovation. An MGM Grand expansion project has been in the works and is expected to be completed in the spring. The project includes adding a hotel and casino, and also a 4,000 seat theatre.
Foxwoods has been in the news recently after the United Auto Workers won a union election to serve for over 2,100 dealers at Foxwoods. Tribal officials are challenging the win, but the chances are good that they will not be successful in their challenge.
