Governor Schwarzenegger Jumps Aboard Casino Expansion Referendums
The state of California is pushing the expansion of casino gambling in its state, and the referendums received a boost when Governor Schwarzenegger gave a formal plea for a yes vote.
The Governor was expected to be in favor of the expansion since it was his administration that negotiated the deals with four separate Southern California Indian tribes.
The referendums, although separate on the ballot, would most likely be an all or nothing call for voters. Both sides of the argument is focusing on the same principles for all of the referendums.
The opposition to the referendums are claiming that the size of the gambling expansion is too great.
Proponents of the referendum take the usual stance for pro gambling politicians, that the agreements would generate more revenue for the state because the tribes would have to share their winnings with California.
February is when the vote is going to take place and the addition of Schwarzenegger could sway voters to vote yes on the referendums.
