Former Employee Wins Lawsuit After Exposing Harrah's Casino
It is common practice in casinos where there are money limits that gamblers use multiple player cards. Players can only buy in for $500 every two hours under Missouri state law.
Harrah's has just lost a lawsuit against a woman who accused the company of wrongful termination. The former security guard, Michele Chambers, claimed she was fired for letting the Missouri Gaming Commission in on illegal activity that was taking place.
Chambers was awarded $1 million in damages. Harrah's Entertainment Incorporated has stated that they will appeal the decision.
The basis of the lawsuit stems from what Chambers told the Gaming Commission. She claimed that supervisors at the Harrah's casino advised her not to report any of the gamblers that were using multiple player cards.
The casino fired Chambers shortly after they found out about her reporting the gamblers to the Commission. The firing triggered her to bring a lawsuit against the casino, and that eventually led to her being awarded the $1 million in damages.
