Iowa Considers Gambling in Adult Clubs

Well, it seems some Iowa politicians are quietly discussing the allowing of gaming devices in adult-only clubs.

When Online Casino Advisory talks, people listen, even if they don't always acknowledge the source of new ideas. OCA has lately been pushing the idea of combining strip clubs and casinos, allowing entertainment pleasures to co-exist.

Well, it seems some Iowa politicians are quietly discussing the allowing of gaming devices in adult-only clubs. A state smoking ban has hurt the bar industry, and gambling machines are seen as a potential draw to bring back customers who left when smoking did.

Video Keno is among the games being considered for adult establishments. While the adult limitations are meant to shield children from gaming, it is just a small move from "adult-only club" to "strip joint".

Casinos in state are exempt from the smoking ban, and bar owners say the casinos now have two advantages over the bars. But if the gambling playing field were somewhat equalized, and bars could operate as strip bars, the smoking advantage would be more than negated.

Perhaps the best solution would be to just grant an entertainment license, thus offending no party and allowing all to participate as they wish. This would give a liquor license, gambling license, smoking permit, and operating permission for a strip club all in one. Bet business (and revenues) would be jumping!
