Lynwood Village Wants Casino if Illinois Passes Legislation
Illinois has been toying with the idea of bringing expanded casino gambling to the state. Whenever that talk heats up, almost every city has reasons to believe the casino should be in their area. The village of Lynwood is one of those such towns. They have expressed interest in bringing a casino to the community should the government pass legislation for expanded gambling.
What officials will have to decide, is whether the area is equipped enough to handle the stress that comes from having a casino in the area. They believe they have the perfect location for a new casino.
"if your real intention is to create economic stimulus in a region that's economically depressed or needs a boost, then we fit that right here in this area," said Eugene Williams, the Village President.
The location of the village is key to Lynwood's argument. they believe by putting a casino in their village, it will help keep gamblers in the state of Illinois, rather than traveling to other states to spend their gambling dollars.
The village is located on the border of Illinois and Indiana. People are currently leaving the state to gamble because Indiana has three casinos right on the other side of the border.
