Full Time Paramedics Could Be Employed By Melbourne Casino
When someone has a tough week at work or their family stress is getting too high, some might head to their local casinos for releif. In a Melbourne casino, that relief has been turning into calls to paramedics for help.
Paramedics have been dispatched to Melbourne's Crown Casino complex so many times that authorities are starting to believe a permanent paramedic may be needed at the casino.
The casino's owners would have you believe that their is no more emergencies in their establishment than at any popular night spot. Authorities, however, are quick to point out the frequent number of times paramedics are called to the casino.
"It probably wouldn't be a bad idea," said Lindsay Bent, when asked if a full time paramedic would be a good idea for the casino. Bent is in charge of sending paramedic teams to the area that the casino is in.
Since 2003, over 2000 ambulances have been sent to the casino. Up until November 28th this year, 343 times the paramedics have been called. Forty two assaults, twenty three psychiatric related incidents, and twenty two overdoses, have been documented as some of the causes for the calls.
