Casino Placement Laws Defined By Gaming Official in Mississippi

A development company has recently asked for answers regarding the laws of casino building on the Mississippi River. The company is looking to build a casino on the water, but they do not want it to be a boat.

The ruling came down this week. A casino must be on the water. It does not have to be a boat, however. That ruling means the company can build a structure for their new casino.

Lane Company is the company that is planning the casino. They do not want to bring in a boat for their casino. This has become the norm, companies building up on the water rather than having to bring in boats to house their gaming businesses.

"They still have to be in the river," Gaming Commission Deputy Director Allen Godfrey said, "That doesn't mean it has to be floating in the river."

He went on to say that companies could build the gaming floor on the river and the rest of the establishment could be built on the bank. Building structures on pilings has become the popular thing to do in the area.
