Mohegan Sun May Take Over Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City

"I think our brand is well established with many of the customers that visit Atlantic City today."

The Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut is a popular destination among gamblers. They are highly rated as a casino. They offer all the amenities that gamblers seek. Now, they are looking to possibly take that brand to Atlantic City.

The Tropicana casino had its license to operate a casino in Atlantic City taken away from them less than a month ago. Since then, a state appointed trustee has been looking for buyers to take over and clean up the now non operational casino.

Currently, Mohegan Sun runs a casino in Connecticut. They also have opened a slot machine casino at Pocono Downs in Pennsylvania and are expanding in other states. A move to Atlantic City could open the door to worldwide casino expansion for the company.

"I think our brand is well established with many of the customers that visit Atlantic City today. We like the regulated environment, and I think we can be a good addition to the Atlantic City environment," said Jeffrey Hartmann, chief operating officer of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority.

The New Jersey Casino Control Commission has already been contacted by Mohegan Sun, according to Hartmann.

I just read the article, and thought it would be prudent to point out that the Tropicana property in New Jersey remains open and fully operational. The article above states that the casino is "non-operational" which is an inaccurate statement.
