Montana Casino Robbery Linked to Deputy
Montana law enforcement officers, investigating a string of casino robberies over the past two years, think they found the guilty party in at least one of the heists. Surprisingly, the culprit is them... or, at least of them, as an ex-deputy of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office was arrested.
A team of US Marshals and county deputies arrested Joel Kenens and Joel Boyce as suspects in the robbery of Yellowstone Charlie's Casino in Livingston, Montana. Joel Coen has an alibi from his brother, Ethan.
Kenens had worked for the Shelby County Sheriff in the 90s, until resigning after a series of disciplinary problems in 2000.
The casino was robbed Monday in a takedown by two armed men. Police ascertained that the getaway car had Tennessee license tags, a fact which helped track the men to a nearby extended stay motel.
The room rented by the two contained guns, and cash identified as the casino money.
Montana has had over a dozen robberies of small casinos throughout the state over a period extending two years. Most feature one or two men, wearing hoody sweatshirts, with one or two guns. Most robbers have fled on foot, a procedure that the two Joels skipped to their grief.
