Montana Casino Robberies Continue Unchecked
The string of Montana casino robberies continues unabated, as early this morning an armed robber attempted to hold up Diamond Jim's Casino in Missoula. The gunman entered shortly after midnight and demanded a casino employee have over money.
The robber then struck the employee, which began a struggle in which the criminal lost his gun, his hoody sweatshirt, and his mask. He then fled the casino and was last seen running down the street.
This marks the eighth reported stickup of a Montana casino since early February. Missoula has been the location of three of the heists, while others have occurred in Billings, Lolo, Billings Heights, Hamilton, and Helena.
All of the robberies involved a gunman, sometimes with a partner, entering a casino during slow early morning or Sunday hours and demanding cash. The descriptions have varied, but hoodies seem to the apparel of choice among the casino bandits.
This morning's robber was described as a young black male adult, about 5'10", 170, wearing baggy pants.
Online Casino Advisory has covered this series of stories from the beginning. The call has been made to both state law enforcement and casino management to find ways to better secure casinos in Montana, before injury or worse befalls an employee or customer. The attempt this morning is the first to involve violence. Let it be hoped that action be taken to make sure it is the last.
