Two Montana Casinos Robbed Over Weekend
Suddenly casino robberies are becoming a worldwide epidemic. First South Africa has suffered through a series of heists by gangs of armed men, occurring over the last several months; now Montana has had two different casinos robbed at gunpoint in less than twenty-four hours.
On Saturday, just before 2 p.m., the Diamond Jubilee Casino in Billings Heights was taken down by two men, one of whom brandished a pistol while the other emptied the cashier's safe. Both men then fled through the rear of the casino, and are being sought by police. The gun-weilding man was described as 5'10" and skinny, wearing a green hooded sweatshirt.
Sunday morning at 11 a.m., 359 miles away in Lolo, Montana, a lone gunman held up the Magic Diamond Casino. He also escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. He was described as roughly 6'2", 180 pounds, with a large nose, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.
It seems astounding that casinos, with their proliferation of cameras and security precautions, should become consistent targets for robbers. Even more unlikely is the possibility that these desperados may remain at large for any length of time; but, until the authorities catch the robbers and casinos tighten security, Montana gamblers may want to be leery of casino patrons wearing colored hoodies. If he doesn't want to be taken for a suspect, Bill Belichick may want to avoid casinos; his luck seems to have run dry, anyway.
