County Building Inspector Weighs in on Monte Carlo Casino Damage
The Monte Carlo Hotel Casino was business as usual just a few days ago. A fire swept through the upper part of the building and has closed the building temporarily.
On Saturday, the Chief County Building Inspector, Ron Lynn, had his say as to what has to happen before the building can once again be opened. Tops on the list was the burned exterior of the building would have to be removed or secured.
The casino was waiting on the inspector to assess the damage. They now will move along with the process of figuring out how to handle the situation as quickly and efficiently as possible.
"Now that the county inspectors have completed their work, we'll begin our assessment," said Gordon Absher, a spokesman for MGM Mirage. The timetable has not yet been set for when the casino will once again be servicing the public.
Nobody was reported seriously injured in the fire that erupted Friday somewhere at the top of the building. Seventeen people were taken to the hospital, but only one of those people still remain in the hospital. That person is listed in fair condition.
