Oklahoma Tribe Being Investigated Over Casino Revenue Spending
The Indian Gaming Commission is ready to begin an investigation over whether a couple of Oklahoma Indian Tribes have been stealing money. The inquiry is said to be over how $50 million was spent.
The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes have three casinos in Oklahoma. One is the Lucky Star casino in Concho. There is also a Lucky Star in Clinton. The commission wants to know where the $2 to $2.5 million monthly profit has been going from those two casinos.
A third casino is owned by the tribe in Watonga. That casino, the Feather Warrior Casino, is a bit smaller but is also under investigation of missing money. Any findings that are deemed to be illegal will be turned over to the FBI.
"It's a sad thing that our own people had to turn us in, but it's going to uncover a lot of things and bring them out into the open," said Darrell Flyingman, the Cheyenne and Arapaho Governor who is in favor of the investigation.
The turmoil that has been brewing within the governing powers of the tribe is one of the reason's the investigation is taking place. Both sides are blaming each other for the alleged missing money, causing the Commission to start an investigation to get to the bottom of the problem.
