Canadian Casino Pays Record Jackpot
A woman hit a record jackpot over the weekend at Casino Rama in Ontario. The progressive jackpot was $8,920,622.89, the most ever won in a Canadian casino.
Anna Falco, a regular at Casino Rama, was playing a Megabucks slot machine for less than an hour when the bells and lights started up. She had been playing the machine, which had a $1 minimum, for $3 a spin to qualify for the jackpot.
Eleven different casinos in Ontario share in setting the jackpot, which starts at $1 million and climbs from there.
The previous record for a single slots jackpot was $5.8 million, set in 2004 at the Niagra Fallsview Casino Resort.
Falco was at Casino Rama with her husband, Franco. When the couple called their two adult daughters to tell them what had happened, neither initially believed them. One even called back, determined that the good news was a prank.
Customers from Casino Rama knew the Falcos and said they were nice people, who deserved to get a break. Anna Falco said she planned to share her new wealth with her family and friends.
