Palazzo Opens And Raises The Bar For Las Vegas Casinos
Casinos in Las Vegas take on a life of their own. Once they are built, they take on the personality that the owner wants portrayed. That means that everything inside and out are set to the same theme.
Today there is one more luxurious casino resort in Las Vegas, and this one is raising the bar for casinos to come. Palazzo is going through the festivities of opening, a gala that was planned for last year.
Originally, the Palazzo had its grand opening set for December of last year, but when permits and inspections were not yet complete, owner Sheldon Adelson delayed the opening festivities until this weekend.
Diana Ross will perform on Saturday. "The Jersey Boys", a Tony award winning play that will be the entertainment at the new hotel casino will also play on Saturday.
The Palazzo is connected with the the Venetian, another Adelson property. Between the two of them there are over 7,000 rooms. The hotel is also equipped with a conference room where large conventions are expected to take place.
"The beauty of this place is well described in its name," said Jon Trenchant, who was in town on business from Florida. He found time in between business meetings to check out the new casino hotel. The name he was referring to was Palazzo, which in Italian means "princess".
