Fox Poll Shows US Majority for Allowing Gambling

A new Fox poll shows US residents believe the right to choose to play at casino gambling outweighs the dubious need to protect communities.

Play Now at Slots Oasis! Fox News' weekly poll this week turned its attention to US residents and their feelings about gambling. Unsurprisingly, the new poll became the latest in a line of surveys that show US citizens think they should be able to choose to gamble, if they wish.

In response to the question of favoring or opposing casino gambling in the state of residence, 52 percent said they favored gaming, with only 37 percent opposed.

The majority also held that the introduction of casino gambling to an area is unlikely to increase crime, a favorite myth spread by discredited academics who work for anti-gambling groups.

Almost three-quarters said they had gambled at a casino at some time in their life.

A USA Today poll last spring showed over 90 percent of respondents thought online gambling should be allowed. Polls have consistently backed individual rights to gamble, even as many respondents note that they themselves do not plan to gamble.

In other words, most polls have shown that US residents still support the rights of their neighbors to determine for themselves whether they wish to play at online gambling, even while politicians either ban gambling or place onerous taxes upon it.
