Bank on Reservation Makes it Easier For Casinos To Deposit Money
American Indians have long been in the business of making money. They take their land, and do the most profitable thing possible with it. They build casinos. Tribal casinos have an identity all across America.
Now, in North Dakota, American Indians are giving themselves something that will help store all of the money they accumulate at their casino. A bank.
North Dakota is now the home to what many believe is the first bank privately owned by American Indians on a reservation. The reservation is Turtle Mountain in North Central North Dakota.
A person who grew up on the reservation was the one who thought it might be a good idea to have a bank there. So he took his thoughts and created the bank.
Turtle Mountain State Bank is the name of the bank that will hopefully become the bank of choice for tribal members on the reservation. Many of the members were excited to finally have a bank, with the nearest off reservation bank being ten to twenty miles away.
"A bank is the backbone to economic growth in any community," said bank founder James Laducer, "But people wanting to do banking had to go at least ten to twenty miles off the reservation to get a bank."
