Casino Host of WSOP Changes Pool Rules After Hooker Busts
The Rio Casino in Las Vegas, as famed as any casino in the world due to its hosting of the World Series of Poker, has apparently ended its relationship with the Sapphire strip club after undercover officers reported prostitution occurring at the topless pool. Sapphire had arranged to stock the Rio pool with hot young strippers eager to take advantage of the topless allowances, but the casino has withdrawn it lack of female tops after the law enforcement raid.Eleven arrests took place last Saturday at the pool. Police did not confirm that anyone arrested was employed by either Sapphire's or the casino.
The police activity is seen as a continuation of new policies demanding casinos be responsible not just for gaming floors, but all aspects of the properties. Nightclubs have come under increasing scrutiny, and the pool bust is another move to require casinos to keep every part of their resorts in compliance with the stringent gaming regulations.
Authorities say neither the Rio nor Sapphire's is expected to be fined or cited. Rio officials were supposedly shocked that putting half-naked strippers near drunk gamblers close to hotel rooms may lead to prostitution.
In the meantime, casino patrons at the Rio will have to take the short cab ride to Sapphire's to see the strippers, and the Rio will cut back to more discreet hooking, with less in full view of poolside guests.
