Harrah's Casinos Takes Trekkies Where No Man Has Gone Before
Harrah's Entertainment has reached an agreement with WMS Industries to introduce a Total Rewards version of WMS' Star Trek gaming machines. Total Rewards is Harrah's customer loyalty program, which gives patrons points based on amount and frequency of play.
The Star Trek machines will be released in Las Vegas this month, and will be introduced at Harrah's casino locations across the US as regulatory approval is granted. The machines will function by inserting Total Rewards cards. Each participant can create his own history and personalized Star Trek adventure.
Star Trek features a new level of gaming technology by WMS. The Adaptive Gaming technology platform allows players to save their playing status and experience new bonus rounds and different gaming episodes over time and at differing machines.
Players therefore can continue to advance through an ever-changing story line, picking up where they left off on their last experience. Tim Stanley, Chief Information Officer at Harrah's, said, 'With Harrah's broad geographic operating base and planned implementation across our nearly 40 properties in North America, our players will be able to enjoy these unique and entertaining episodic experiences at any Harrah's casino they visit that features these unique STAR TREK games on the casino floor."
A game that starts where you left it, rather than returning to the beginning, and has the excitement of gambling combined with the absorption of a narrative? As Spock would say, 'It's only logical."
