Tropicana Casino and Resort Returns a Familiar Face
The Tropicana Casino and Resort has seen its share of good times. It also has seen the down times. The casino is in the process of being sold and an old executive has been called on to get things in order.
Pamela Popielarski has had a rocky road relationship with Tropicana. She ran the casino for thirteen years and helped it prosper. Then, two months ago she sued Tropicana claiming it owed her money.
The money owed was nearly half a million dollars according to Popielarski. It was owed to her for a severance package when new owners took over the casino. Old habits die hard, however.
Popielarski, who dropped her lawsuit when Columbia Sussex Corporation lost their casino license last month, will now be called upon to manage the casino until it can be sold.
Columbia had control of the casino for less than a year when they lost their license. The state Casino Control Commission made the hirings today. In addition to Popielarski, two other consultants were also hired. The hope is that the three can work together and get the casino ready to be sold.
