Moses Lake Casino Leaning The Hard Way About State Taxes
A few weeks ago, a gambling license that was issued to Cardroom Inc., had been suspended by the Washington State Gambling Commission. The infractions that occurred that caused the suspension were several.
Not disclosing a lawsuit, not reporting a financial contributions by an owner, and not paying local gambling taxes has resulted in a fifteen day suspension of the gambling license.
The owner of the license claims that it was an honest mistake that landed the license being suspended. "It was all administrative that there were some errors. It wasn't criminal charges, it was just because I was late reporting some things. they're having issues. That's how regulatory they are," said owner Brian Rosborough.
The license was doing business as Porterhouse Restaurant. While the owner claims it was a simple mistake, Commission spokeswoman Susan I. Arlund disagreed, "Having charges against you for failure to pay gambling taxes is very unusual," she said.
She did acknowledge that the other charges, for failing to report the lawsuit and the financial contribution, happen somewhat frequently. The penalty came down for ten days of penalty for these three charges, and five days for an earlier settlement that was reneged on.
