Internet Casino Company 888 Expands to South Africa

The Dragonfish division of online casino developer 888 scored another coup by signing deals to partner with a major South African land gambling operator in bringing Internet gaming to the country.

Online casino operator 888 continues to use its business-to-business division, Dragonfish, to sign lucrative new gambling deals. Just days after a major deal to provide Harrah's Entertainment with online gambling software, Dragonfish has inked an agreement with Tsogo Sun Gaming Group of South Africa.

Tsogo Sun, which operates land-based casinos and resorts in South Africa, will partner with Dragonfish to establish online sports betting under the Tsogo Sun brand, as well as introduce 888's brands in Internet casinos, online poker and bingo when the country implements regulations.

"This partnership is the first of many targeted at regulated markets, where Dragonfish's partners operate under local licenses and enjoy the benefits of such regulatory arrangement," stated Dragonfish CEO Gabi Campos.

Clearly, 888 is adopting the strategy of staying on the right side of local regulators by reaching deals with licensed gambling operators, as it expands its online gaming business.

South Africa has been in the process for establishing online gambling regulations for some months now.
