Bingo Continues Move to Internet in UK

As bingo halls dropped slightly in numbers, gambling revenue from the game continued to rise in the UK, thanks to blooming Internet popularity.

Gaming reports show that UK bingo gambling is deserting live bingo halls and turning more and more to the Internet. According to the UK Gambling Commission, bingo gaming sales online in the UK set new highs this year.

Bingo clubs have declined in number, as commission figures show 641 bingo halls, down from 675 last year. But bingo total sales number show a rise of nearly five percent, indicating the game is still growing in popularity.

Land-based operators say the loss of customers to the ease of the Internet is exacerbated by the smoking bans and increased taxes on bingo halls. The social connection of live bingo seems to be giving way to the quick playability of the online game.

With the number of clubs and bingo gaming operators in decline, only two bingo companies now control over forty percent of the gambling halls. Gala Bingo and Mecca Bingo dominate the market.

Bingo has been on a rapid rise in the UK over the last year or more, and studies by online gambling operators indicate the bingo market is far from saturated, leaving much room for growth.
