Bodog Online Casinos Use Technology to Expand Globally

Bodog's family of online casinos are switching to new technology allowing patrons to be directed to domain names fit to the particular gaming laws under which they reside.

Bodog has been at once one of the most famed and most troubled brands among online casinos for the past decade. Now Bodog owners are looking to develop new strategies to once again expand their market, and technological innovations are at the forefront of their methodology.

The Bodog brand is owned regionally since the split of Calvin Ayre's empire. Bodog USA is controlled by Morris Mohawk Gaming, a group affiliated with the Kahnawake Indians in Canada and owned by the ex-Kahnawake chief. Bodog Asia is run by Haydock Entertainment, while Keith McDonell runs Bodog Europe, which includes Canada.

When players sign in to Bodog, they are directed to the correct branch according to IP address. Using the technology that accomplishes this on a much smaller scale, Bodog hopes to craft its gambling products and online casinos to fit the individual laws and desires of a particular country or even state.

McDonell says Bodog will soon have unique domain names for each country in Europe in which their online casinos operate. The technology is called geo-IP technology.

This new system may prove useful in many regions of the world, but none has the potential to make it as invaluable as the US. A domain name designed for each state, created with individual state laws and regulations in mind, would be a huge advantage over competition trying to adjust one product to the potentially numerous differences in gaming requirements.

Correction 1:

Mohawk-Morris is not affiliated with the Mohawk people of Kahnawake, any more than The NY Times is affiliated with the people of NY City.

Mohawk-Morris is a privately owned company.

Correction 2: Alwayn Morris, President of Mohawk-Morris, is not now, nor has he ever been a "Chief" or held elected office in Kahnawake.

Correction 2 is correct; Morris was never chief, he "was senior advisor to the Chief and Council of the Kahnawake Mohawks for twelve years."

And to say a Mohawk gaming company being regulated by a Mohawk regulatory system, considering Morris' documented ties to tribal leadership, is disingenuous, to say the least.
