CryptoLogic Keeps Marvel Comic Characters at Online Casinos
CryptoLogic Limited announced today it had signed an extension of its licensing arrangement with Marvel Entertainment, allowing the online gambling operator to continue to use Marvel's comic book superheroes on Internet slot machines. The online casino company successfully negotiated to keep exclusive rights to Internet gambling games featuring Marvel characters through 2013.
Both CryptoLogic and Marvel have benefited from the deal, as the superhero casino games have been among the most popular slots at any Internet casino. The original deal was reached in 2005, and CryptoLogic has now extended the agreement three times.
“It’s exciting to extend a deal that has been mutually successful and profitable and to strengthen CryptoLogic’s competitive advantage in the branded gaming space," said CryptoLogic President and CEO Brian Hadfield.
“(CryptoLogic) has proven that it is able to translate Marvel’s world-renowned superheroes into hugely successful Internet casino games and we are confident that (this) will continue," said Simon Philips, head of global consumer products for Marvel.
CryptoLogic employs over seventeen games based on Marvel figures, including Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Punisher, Blade, and the Fantastic Four. The games comprise the signature section of CryptoLogic's array of over 280 online casino games.
