Religious Zealots Praise Bachus, Condemn Frank Re Online Casinos
A new voice representing questionable reasoning has spoken at Focus on the Family regarding Internet gambling. Previously, Chad Hills, an uncredentialed "gambling analyst" for the fringe fundamentalist group, has consistently made incorrect and unsubstantiated statements in relation to online casinos. Now, Ashley Horne, identified as Focus on the Family's federal policy analyst, speaks in commendation of Representative Spencer Bachus. It was announced by the House Republican Steering Committee that Bachus would be allowed to retain his position as ranking member of the Financial Services Committee.
Bachus is a noted opponent of online gambling, although not so strict on the ethics of insider trading, as his personal investments have revealed. Horne says that Bachus and his influence on the committee will be important, as "we expect Frank to try again to force Internet gambling on the country."
The shot at Representative Barney Frank implies that Frank would chain each citizen to a computer which only receives online gambling sites. But Frank's position is that he wants to break the bonds, allowing residents to make their own choices, whether that be to gamble at Internet casinos, read news online, or visit religious sites using twisted logic to promote zealotry.
While Frank would not force behavior on anyone, Focus supports an Internet gaming ban that forces their strict beliefs on everyone. Horne has already established herself as another Focus master of spin, rather than a source of truth.
