Gamblers Win on Nadal at Wimbledon, as Predicted on OCA
As predicted here at Online Casino Advisory last week by sports analyst Edmund Crumley, Rafael Nadal edged past Roger Federer to win The Championship at Wimbledon Sunday. After heavy betting reduced Federer from a slight favorite to virtually even money, Nadal won exactly as Crumley foresaw, in a tight match that went the full five sets and gave a razorthin advantage to the younger Spanish star.
Experts are citing the match as the best in Wimbledon history, and one of the best ever. The full five hours of play was rebroadcast the next day on ESPN Classic. The legendary John McEnroe had to pull back tears as he interviewed the contestants, struck by the depth of commitment and effort displayed by both men.
Although Federer's brilliant clutch serves allowed him to rescue break points and even match points with aces, and gave him the ability to win sets three and four in tiebreakers, the five-time Wimbledon champ could not break Nadal's service games.
Meanwhile, Nadal had found a way to translate his indomitable clay court game into a more complete, all around form of tennis brilliance, able to prosper on grass, and fit for the hard court of the U.S. Open in September.
Nadal will almost certainly take the number one ranking from Federer when the computer tabulations are complete; he has already become the people's champion. Many times it takes greatness in the defeated to bring out greatness in the victor, and often the best of sports can only be found when the opponent is as talented and determined as the champion. Nadal-Federer, over the last few years, may be tennis's equivalent of Frazier-Ali, the like of which we shall not soon see again.
