Online Casinos Get Busy with NCAA Basketball Semi-Finals
Tonight features this year's semi-final matchups in the race for the NCAA men's college basketball championship, with games between North Carolina and Villanova on one hand and Michigan State and Connecticut on the other. Online casinos will be bracing for heavy gambling traffic as the Internet will be buzzing with excitement over the Final Four.In the opening game, Connecticut is listed as a 4 1/2 point favorite over Michigan State. Even though the seeding committee gave the Spartans a two-seed, they are still probably the closest thing to a surprise team in this year's final weekend.
Michigan State had to upset the overall top seed, Louisville, from the monstrous Big East conference, to earn a trip back home to Detroit. And their reward is to play UConn, another Big East team which some consider superior to Louisville.
OCA's sports analyst, Edmund Crumley, picks Connecticut to cover. He notes the line is perhaps closer than expected due to the Spartans playing so close to home, but thinks Uconn wins by eight or nine, with just too much scoring for Michigan.
In the second game, North Carolina is favored over Villanova by 7. Crumley has been touting the Wildcats all year, and loves taking the points here. He tells the bold gambler a play on the money line with Villanova will earn 270 on a 100 play.
"The one caveat here is the wild card, Ty Lawson. Lawson may be the best player in the field, and as a point guard, fits into the tradition of guards leading the way to the championship. But Villanova's three guards should be able to contain him, and 'Nova's defense is unbelievably good, " says Crumley.
