New Advertising Blitz for Frank Online Casino Bill Starts
One of the many groups supporting Barney Frank's bill seeking to license and regulate online casinos has launched an advertising campaign to increase public awareness of the issues involved. The Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative lets viewers know that the Frank proposal would protect consumers playing at online gambling sites while raising billions in revenue for government."As Congress searches for ways to pay for health care reform and other worthy programs, it should end the unsuccessful prohibition of Internet gambling and start collecting taxes on the billions in revenue currently lost to unlicensed, offshore gambling operators," said Jeffrey Sandman of SSIGI on the group's website.
Some of the ads compare the government attempts to block online casinos with the most famous failed legislative ban, Prohibition. Others emphasize the dangers in the current, unregulated Internet gaming market to consumers and children, while a third set discusses estimates of taxation up to $62 billion in ten years through regulation.
The ads will be placed in spots on politically oriented media, including outlets like the Washington Post, The Hill, Politico, and the Huffington Post.
The SSIGI site mentions the sizable and bipartisan assembly of co-sponsors committed to supporting Frank's measure, including Democrats George Miller and Charles Rangel along with Republicans Pete King and Ron Paul, part of more than fifty to have signed on.
