Poker Players' Alliance Urges Public to Call Fed Re UIGEA
As members of the Bush administration attempt another sneaky move by finalizing regulations implementing the UIGEA only days before leaving office, representatives of the online casino industry are shocked and appalled. Under the current schedule, the new rules for enforcing a law termed ambiguous and unworkable by financial, banking, and government leaders would go into effect the day before Barack Obama's inauguration.
The Poker Players' Alliance is stunned by the move. The group, which advocates for the rights of online poker players, has asked its constituency to let the government know that the public does not condone this midnight drop.
The PPA requests that all concerned parties call the Federal Reserve and let them know not to approve these hastily devised and ill-conceived regulations. The numbers to call are Consumer Complaints, 888-851-1920 or Public Affairs, 202-452-2955.
The PPA asserts that the government has far more important economic matters on their plate than attempting to force through UIGEA regulations; that the burdens of this law will only further cripple America's financial system; that more careful study of the potential impact of these regulations is needed; and that poker should not be included with other online gambling games, as it is a game of skill.
Internet casino patrons and fans of online gaming should all take the time to make a call. Every voice heard will be another the Fed must consider before passing these last-second regulations along.
