Tiger Battles the Field in U.S. Open Golf Online Gambling
The PGA Tour heads to Bethpage Black this week, and the eyes of online gambling patrons will be on Tiger Woods, as usual. The US Open starts Thursday, and Woods has solidified his normal position as the heavy favorite by finishing the Memorial two weeks ago with another amazing comeback to win.
Woods is listed from 3-2 to 15-8 on various Internet casinos to win his fourth US Open title and second in a row. Last year's victory, when Woods won while playing on basically one leg before having surgery for knee injuries and stress fractures, became just another step in the legend that is Tiger.
Internet gambling sites list other players for those brave enough to bet against the greatest golfer in the world. Phil Mickelson can be had at 14-1, Geoff Ogilvy at 20-1, and Jim Furyk at 22-1.
But Woods is still the man, in the eyes of both casual fans and serious sports bettors. Crowds followed Woods even through practice rounds on Tuesday, waiting to be witnesses to magic.
Woods will enter as the winner the last time the US Open was played at Bethpage Black, the last US Open, and the last event he entered before this weekend. No wonder he's almost expected to dominate the world's greatest group of golfers as if they are weekend hackers.
